How CSA Scores Are Calculated
CSA scores are based on data from roadside inspections and crash reports from the last 24 months. Each violation is assigned a severity weight (1-10), with more serious violations carrying higher weights. The violations are grouped by BASIC and normalized against similar carriers.
- Violations are weighted — speeding 15+ over = 10 points, speeding 1-5 over = 1 point
- Time decay — violations from 12 months ago carry more weight than violations from 24 months ago
- Normalized by peer group — your scores are compared to carriers of similar size and operation type
- Updated monthly — scores change as violations age out and new ones are added
